Location, Location, Location

 1952

Real estate has its essential truths.

A 1988 article in Time Magazine, covering the post-White House lifestyle of the recently departed President and his wife, wrote about their choice of a new home, saying they “…wisely relied on the traditional real estate mantra — location, location, location.”

Just how traditional is it, though?

Searching for the same word repeated three times can be tricky business, but diligence prevails.

The FirstMention of this soon-to-be-a-mantra dates back to a March 30, 1952 appearance in the Washington Post in — of course — an ad in the Real Estate section.

In 1952, it was an original, catchy sort of saying. A few year later, it was everywhere.
